Musicalligraphy workshop with Bahman Panahi
Where calligraphy and music meet…
Musicalligraphy, conceived by Bahman Panahi—visual artist, master calligrapher, and musician—is a unique artistic experience that explores the deep connections between music and calligraphy. This innovative concept unites rhythm, gesture, and inner harmony.
During this workshop, participants will discover how the act of writing calligraphy becomes a visual melody, and how musical rhythms inspire the movement of the reed pen (calame) and ink. A millennia-old symbol of calligraphic beauty and wisdom, the calame—guided by listening and breath—draws vibrations on the paper, where each stroke becomes a note and each silence, a breath. Balancing precision of movement with sensitive listening, the practice reveals a true dance between the eye, the ear, and the hand.
More than just an introduction to classical calligraphy, Musicalligraphy offers a collective experience, where participants create a living score together, blending sonic vibrations and graphic gestures.
This workshop also encourages a state of deep concentration, creative letting go, and inner harmony. By connecting visual, auditory, physical, and spiritual perceptions, it invites each participant to cultivate mindful presence and experience the meditative, timeless dimension of art.
All necessary artistic materials (paper, reed pen, ink) are provided by the museum.
