Participants in this workshop will discover the daf, a percussion instrument whose origins date back to pre-Islamic Persia. The daf was played during religious ceremonies, rituals and celebrations. This introductory workshop, designed for all levels, allows participants to discover this instrument and practise the rhythms of Sufi sacred music from the Kurdish region of Iran. A daf is provided for each participant.
