Saz o Avaz is a traditional Persian musical form that intertwines instrumental performance (saz) with vocal expression (avaz). Rooted in the ancient art of Persian classical music, it represents a deep dialogue between the musician and the singer, where words and melodies merge to express the unspoken emotions of the heart. Unlike structured compositions, Saz o Avaz is often improvised, following the rhythm and emotions of the poetry and aiming to bring to life the deep meaning of divine expressions found in Sufi verse.
In essence, it is more than music, it is a spiritual journey inspired by the teachings of Sufism, where sound becomes a vehicle for remembrance (Dhikr) and the awakening of the heart. Each note carries a expression of divine longing, each silence reflects divine presence, and every phrase mirrors the inner states of the seeker on the path of love.

The MTO Zendeh Delan Ensemble will present Saz o Avaz as part of its mission to share the beauty and depth of Sufi inspired Persian music with audiences around the world, inviting listeners to turn inward and experience the harmony of sound, heart, and spirit.
