Bahman Panahi

Bahman Panahi is a Franco-Iranian visual artist, master calligrapher and creator of the concept “Musicalligraphy”, an innovative dialogue between sound and form in contemporary art. Born in Iran, he studied traditional calligraphy and music with several of the great Persian masters before pursuing academic studies in fine arts and music. He later earned his PhD from the Sorbonne University in Paris, where his research explored the interrelations between musical structure and visual composition in calligraphic art.

Panahi’s artistic practice transcends the boundaries of language and medium. Through Musicalligraphy, he transforms the calligraphic gesture into a musical act, an exploration of rhythm, vibration, and the spirituality of the written line.

His work has been exhibited internationally, in major artistic and cultural institutions across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Iran, and the United States. Alongside his artistic career, Panahi is also an active educator and lecturer. He has taught and conducted workshops in numerous universities, art schools, and cultural centers around the world, sharing his vision of calligraphy as a living art form that unites tradition and modernity.

Today, Bahman Panahi stands as one of the foremost figures bridging visual and sound arts, continuing his search for harmony between the seen and the heard, the written and the felt.
