Artist AragoRn Boulanger invites you to an immersive Persian calligraphy workshop designed for beginners. You’ll discover the fundamentals of classical calligraphy, the pursuit of harmony and balance in the calligraphic form, and become familiar with the tools and aesthetic principles unique to this traditional art form.
An advanced workshop is also available if you wish to deepen your learning.
AragoRn brings together various artistic disciplines, including the performing and visual arts. Professional dancer and choreographer since 2001, he has developed a physical movement technique inspired by paintings and drawings, depicting curves, negative space, and positive space in a dynamic relationship. He has worked with leading figures in the contemporary arts scene, such as Andy Degroat, Michel Schweizer, and Bob Wilson… as well as with the 14:20 company in his exploration of “New Magic.” These diverse experiences have gradually led him to focus on the anagogical role of art; its ability to connect us to a higher dimension. As a natural extension of dance and the curves of movement, he turned to Arabic and Persian calligraphy, which he studied in the traditional manner for five years under the Iranian master Bahman Panahi and the Tunisian calligrapher Hamda Yacoub. In 2021, he joined Gare Expérimentale, a collective of independent Parisian artists, where he has a studio dedicated to his calligraphic creations and has since participated in several exhibitions and individual or group visual art projects.
