AragoRn Boulanger
In this workshop, participants discover calligraphy in its traditional form and spirit; an art that allows you to connect with yourself and strive for inner balance and calm. While exploring its history and philosophy, participants learn the rules, tools and basic forms of calligraphy.
For two hours, this practice offers a space conducive to concentration and meditation. The learning process begins with engaging the body in the correct posture to maintain a sensitive awareness of balance. The eye is taught to measure distances correctly, and the hand is taught to make clear movements to trace the first signs of poetic writing.
As a choreographer and performer, AragoRn has worked with an enriching diversity of artists such as Andy Degroat, Bob Wilson, Michel Schweitzer, Compagnie 14:20, and more recently Dalila Belaza. He has developed and staged a dance based on the dynamics of curves. As a natural extension of this, in 2017 he began learning Arabic and Persian calligraphy from the Iranian master calligrapher Bahman Panahi. Now a calligrapher, these two disciplines come together in his work. He creates original pieces in his studio in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, participates in events and exhibits his work. And, in keeping with tradition, he teaches calligraphy in several establishments in Paris.
