Sound as a Healing Practice
Brook Andrew, Katy’taya Catitu Tayassu, Guadalupe Maravilla
An artist talk will open the program, followed by the ritual by Katy’taya Catitu Tayassu and a guided tour of the exhibition led by curators Elena Sorokina and Simona Dvorák.
The artistic practices brought together here explore the healing potential of sound through intuitive listening to subtle vibrations. They channel unseen energies and ancestral knowledge into forms that invite embodied listening and collective attunement. By cultivating multisensory forms of knowledge and inviting deep attention, they remind us that sound has the capacity to heal, to connect, and to preserve.
For this event, Catitu Tayassu will offer a sonic activation in the museum: a gesture of reverence to the ancestors and sacred presences that dwell in the land, air and water. Rooted in the resonance of her own voice and amplified through her ritual companions—drums that are both percussive and enchanted—Catitu Tayassu’s work unfolds as a language of healing, remembrance, and presence.
