Join us for a unique exploration of the plants celebrated in Sufi poetry, guided by Jacky Libaud, a horticulturist and lecturer. Discover the stories behind the Damask rose or Arabian jasmine. From the museum‘s garden to a stroll along the towpath by the Seine, you may encounter one of the creatures mentioned in the famous Sufi allegory, “The Conference of the Birds” by Farīd al-Dīn ʿAṭṭār (12th century). These walks invite you to appreciate nature, which lies at the heart of Sufi literature and teachings.
After studying horticulture, Jacky Libaud worked in garden centers and a landscaping company in Paris. In 2001, he became a lecturer for the Agency for Urban Ecology, City of Paris, and in the spring of 2011, he founded Balades aux jardins within the Coopaname cooperative. Through this platform, he shares with the public the history, architecture, flora, and fauna of Paris and its surroundings.
