Guided Tour: Walk with the Impressionists in Chatou

It was on the island of Chatou that Claude Monet, alongside Renoir, Sisley, and Pissarro, found one of his greatest sources of inspiration. Amid bridges, riverside cafés, and boating enthusiasts, the Impressionist painters captured the simple pleasures of life along the Seine and the ever-changing light reflected on its waters. The Fournaise Hamlet, a vibrant gathering place, became both their artistic refuge and a privileged witness to this joyful era when art and modernity met.

This guided tour invites you to immerse yourself in the world of Impressionism through reproductions of paintings displayed along the route, a guided presentation of the Fournaise Hamlet and its history, and an introduction to the collection of historic boats restored by the Sequana Association, remarkable testimonies to life on the Seine during the Belle Époque.
