Meris Angioletti was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1977. She currently lives and works in Paris. After graduating in photography from the Bauer School in Milan, she went on to study at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 2004. She is currently a researcher at the APESA doctoral school at Université Paris I, where her work lies at the intersection of art history, the human sciences, and esoteric beliefs. It questions the mechanisms of language, perception, memory, and the psyche. Using light and sound installations, video projections, slide shows and publications, she creates sensory and introspective experiences for viewers.
Her most recent solo exhibitions have taken place at the Studio (Stockholm), at Galerie Schleicher und Lange (Berlin), and at La Galerie – Centre d’art contemporain (Noisy-le-Sec). She has also held solo exhibitions at BACO in Bergamo (Danza Macabra, 2016), at La Galerie – Centre d’art contemporain in Noisy-le-Sec (2011), at the Fondazione Galleria Civica in Trento (I Describe The Way And Meanwhile I Am Proceeding Along It), and at GAMeC – Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Bergamo (Ginnastica Oculare), both in Italy in 2009. Her work has also been presented internationally, notably at the 53rd São Paulo Biennial (The Imminence of Poetics, 2012), the 54th Venice Biennale (IllumiNations, 2011), the 5th edition of the Nouveau Festival at the Centre Pompidou (L’oubli, le souvenir, la réminiscence, 2014), and at the Fondation d’entreprise Ricard in Paris (L’apparition des images, 2013). |
