The works of Younes Rahmoun (Morocco, 1975) are deeply rooted in a vision of the world shaped by the principles of Sufism. They embody inner experience and give form to the invisible, such as the awakening and spirit. A universal motif, the house is a recurring theme in his work. It symbolizes the private place from which the individual finds their place in the world. The three works from the Manzil (house) series in the exhibition follow an upward trajectory, from the earth to the sky, from one floor of the museum to the next, thus evoking an inner journey as a common thread. The house embodies a person finding their balance between themselves and their environment.
Created for the exhibition Un Ciel intérieur, Markib-Habba (Boat-Seed), revolves around two recurring themes in Younes Rahmoun’s work: the boat—symbolizing the spiritual journey, and the seed—the source of life and the place where the soul resides.
